Female Fitness Models - Elya McCleave

I am a fitness competitor, model and a performer from Canada that currently resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. Aloha everyone! ;-) I love to compete at fitness events! There is nothing else like standing on stage next to those strong and beautiful women thinking to yourself wow! I made it! I’m here!. It gives me a purpose and makes my life complete.

I was born and raised in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (that's right!). When seven years ago I moved to Vancouver, I simply fell in love with that city. Now my life took a new turn, and I’m learning and absorbing a unique Hawaiian culture and enjoying the sun. I feel blessed!

I always was into sports, but never really had a chance to start training regularly. Only after I moved to Canada weightlifting became my daily routine. I was working out for a year on my own, and since I didn't know much about training/nutrition I wasn't getting any noticeable results. In June, 2004 I met a wonderful person and trainer Nancy Lockington! She took me to a completely different level and that's when I really started to work out!

Nancy introduced me to fitness and helped to prepare for my very first competition FemSport 2004! Competing at FemSport was awesome! I've learned a lot, had tons of fun and made friends for life! I was hooked! I started modeling and doing some promotional work on the side, while getting ready for Fame WEST 2005. At that show I placed 3d in fitness division... not that bad for my very first competition! A year later I took the first place at FAME West 2006. Since then I've competed in FemSport three more times and did the SWFC show placing in top five at both events. I loved every moment of it!

Prior to me moving to Hawaii I did some geeky research (yes, I’m a full time nerd lol) and came across Rey Ronquilio's page http://www.reyronquilio.com/... Rey held off a slew of great competitors to win the 2003 Mr. USA lighweight championship title. Rey also won his class at the 2002 Masters National Championships and was in the running for that overall championships! He happened to live in Honolulu and train out of the gym I was planning to join. I said that was destiny!

Rey took me in! I'm so happy to have this chance to train with him! We are now working together on sculpting a new me! I’m planning to re-enter the competition area at the end of 2009 or begging 2010. I'm super excited and I want to thank all my friends and family for their ongoing support!

To give back to the industry I stared an online community for women called FitnessLicious. It’s been only 8 months since the launch and we already have over 300 active (absolutely wonderful!) members from Vancouver, BC. The group FL is unique as not only there are endless online recourses and support, we actually meet and do things together! Ladies join us at http://www.fitnesslicious.com

Everyone please remember that you can achieve anything you put your mind to, it's just a matter of you believing in yourself! My Nancy always says 'There is no such a thing as Can’t'
