Sacramento, CA (AHN) - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says he will pull out of his contract with two fitness magazines.Schwarzenegger says he will suspend his title as executive editor of Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines and will forego any compensation, after he coming under scrutiny when the amount he was receiving was revealed last week.Schwarzenegger says, "The decision is to discontinue the relationship we have now. I will continue promoting body building and fighting obesity."
Schwarzenegger's deal required him to act as a consultant to several fitness magazines, including Muscle & Fitness and Flex - the deal was disclosed in March 2004.
The governor was forced to defend his contract with the magazines after a securities disclosure showed he would be paid at least $1 million a year for five years to act as a consultant.
The amount he was being paid wasn't made public until the company filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Schwarzenegger says he wanted to leave no doubt that "the people have my full devotion."
