You must fully commit to your fitness
Mobile Register - Mobile ,AL ,USA, July 17 2005 -- In my
many years as a fitness trainer, I have encountered countless people
who have the desire to become fit, lose weight, gain muscle tone, feel
better and look younger.
Surprisingly, the majority of these people have been on
a regular fitness routine much of their adult lives. However, true fitness
eludes them. They go to the gym week after week, year after year, trying
one workout program after another. They search for the pot of fitness
gold at the end of the exercise rainbow for years on end. But true fitness
seems just out of their reach.
I began to ask myself why this happens. It could be that
the fitness program they are on is just not right for them. Or could
it be due to personal choices?
Scarlet O'Hara is one of my favorite fictional heroines.
As a teen and well into adulthood, I always admired the fact that Scarlet
never worried about today. She always put off the worry until tomorrow.
Now, years later, I realize how wrong I was to believe Scarlet's way
of thinking was correct. Scarlet's hesitancy to be in the present contributed
much to her never finding the elusive fulfillment she longed for.
For example, you may commit to healthy eating. You begin
eating healthy on Monday. However, by Wednesday, you may have had one
unhealthy meal so you decide to put off eating healthy until the following
Monday. This cycle becomes the norm and the commitment to a healthy
diet never becomes a reality.
If you've spent years of your life committed to an exercise
program but true fitness still remains elusive, here are some questions
I would like to invite you to ask yourself:
-- Are your sabotaging your desire to be healthy by not
taking action now?
-- Are the choices you make today going to bring you long-term
fulfillment or short-term gratification?
When you are faced with decisions, whether large or small,
ask yourself these questions. These two simple questions can help you
find true fitness. When eating dinner at your favorite restaurant, these
questions may help you decide to order the broiled fish instead of the
fried.
Begin today by committing to making the right decisions.
I promise you'll be well on your way to finding the fitness pot of gold
at the end of the exercise rainbow.
